A single terminal at a narrow entrance can create a queue when hundreds of workers arrive together. Estimate users per shift, average transaction time, entry routes and fallback requirements. Multiple terminals may be appropriate, but their records must synchronize reliably and avoid duplicate identities.

Fingerprint or face recognition?

Fingerprint terminals can be practical where workers’ fingers can be enrolled and read consistently. Face-recognition systems offer contactless use but need suitable height, lighting, enrollment and privacy controls. Attendance data should pass through a review workflow before payroll.
